Castles were one form of safety for the rich in the medieval era.
There are many different parts of a castle. each part has to be their in order to protect the king/queen/knights/servants/ladies/lords (etc).
Here are a few of the main parts.
1. Castle Moats
A deep, wide ditch surrounding a castle filled with
water as a defense against attack.
2. Castle Dungeons
A strong underground prison cell in a castle.
3. Murder Holes
Murder Holes were holes in the ceilings of castle gateways, through which heavy
or dangerous substances could be thrown on the enemy.
4. Castle Drawbridge
A bridge that can be raised or drawn aside either to prevent or to
permit passage.
5. Castle Gatehouse
A house near a gateway.
6. Castle Loopholes
Narrow vertical windows from which castle defenders
launched arrows from a sheltered position.
